About Indonesia men's national football team

The Indonesia national football team represents the country in men's international football and is run by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). It is known as Tim Garuda, after the national emblem, as well as Timnas and Merah Putih (the red and white) after the flag colours of its kit, and plays most home matches at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.

Its history reaches back to the colonial era: as the Dutch East Indies, the team became the first Asian side to play at a FIFA World Cup, in France in 1938, where it lost 6–0 to Hungary in Reims on 5 June.

The Indonesia men's national football team Logo: Design and Meaning

The crest shown here is a gold-outlined shield with the word INDONESIA across the top, enclosing the Garuda Pancasila, the national coat of arms. The Garuda carries a shield with the five symbols of the state philosophy Pancasila: a star for belief in God, a chain for humanity, a banyan tree for national unity, a buffalo's head for democracy, and rice and cotton for social justice. In its claws it holds the scroll "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" (unity in diversity).

Using the national emblem itself, rendered here mostly in gold and cream with the coloured Pancasila shield at the centre, makes the badge a direct statement that the team plays for the nation. It is also why supporters call the side Tim Garuda.
