About CNN Indonesia

CNN Indonesia is an Indonesian news brand that runs a 24-hour television news channel and the news site CNNIndonesia.com. It belongs to Trans Media, part of Chairul Tanjung's CT Corp, and uses the CNN name under a licence agreement first signed with CNN International on 28 February 2014.

The website went online on 20 October 2014. The TV channel began broadcasting on 17 August 2015, Indonesia's Independence Day, and was officially launched on 15 December 2015. It broadcasts in Indonesian from the Trans Media building on Jalan Kapten Pierre Tendean in Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta; well-known programmes include CNN Indonesia Newsroom, Prime News and the talk show Insight with Desi Anwar.

The CNN Indonesia Logo: Design and Meaning

The logo follows the house style of the international CNN family: the network's linked capital letters "CNN", drawn as a continuous outlined line, in white on a solid red square, with the market name "Indonesia" set underneath in a plain white sans-serif. Keeping the global wordmark untouched and adding the country name below is the same pattern used by other licensed CNN channels, so the brand is recognisable at a glance while the local edition is clear.

Only two colours are used: a strong red (#CC0000 in the file on this page) and white. The square format works well as a TV corner bug, an app icon and a social media avatar, which is why the logo is usually seen as a red tile rather than a horizontal wordmark.
